  Journal FAQs for Subscribers

Q: We have an institutional subscription to the print edition of Mental
Health Nursing. How will going digital affect our access? Will the
annual subscription cost be affected much or remain in line with current
journal inflation?
A: Initially going digital on MHN will be entirely beneficial at no
additional cost in that you will be given a password for unlimited user
access until the end of your current subscription.
When the time comes to renew, you will be given the option of paying the
same price (plus any inflationary increase in line with the market) for
a one to five user licence, with tiered pricing for greater access
(6-15; 16-25; 25-50; more than 50).
The licence is for concurrent users, thus a 5 user licence would
probably be adequate for 20 to 30 users - but as your print edition is
only viewable by one person at a time, you will, at the least, get five
times your current access, and can choose to increase access based upon
demand. In addition, a searchable online archive will be built up,
enhancing usability of the information.
You will need to inform your users of your password, which will change
annually.

Q: I noticed in the Mar/Apr issue of Mental Health Nursing you mention that
there will be no further printed issues of the journal produced and that
access will be by subscriber number. We have an institutional
subscription to the journal and subscribe via our journal agents (Ebsco)
so I don't know what our subscriber number is. It also raises the issue
of how our library customers will access the journal. Have you made any
arrangements how institutional subscribers will access the journal?
A: We now have the opportunity to provided multi-user licences going
forward. But for current subscribers for the current year we would provide them
with an unlimited multi-user licence until the end of their current
subscription, after which it becomes tiered (we need to agree prices
very quickly).
For Ebsco, we will continue to make the service available to Ebsco,
treat Ebsco as a user with unlimited multi-user licence, so that
subscribers to Ebsco retain access.

Q: We have three subscriptions to this journal through our agent, Swets UK.

A: Each is now an unlimited user subscription online until that subscription expires.

Q: As an institutional subscriber, I have been receiving differing information regarding our subscriptions to Mental Health Nursing. We have been told the last print issue would be for March/April 2008, but we have also been told the print copy will continue until the end of the year?

A: There will be no more print copies.

Q: I understand that we will need a password which we do not have.

A: Right now you do not need one, but subscribers will be receiving them soon. Exact details have yet to be worked out, so please keep visiting the Journal page for updates.

Q: We also do not have a subscriber number and what e-mailed address would you want, as it's not a person subscription, it's institutional.

A: Under the current subscription, you just need a password with access from any email address. This will change at the time of renewal.

Q: As a University library with several branches, we need to be able to put a link from our catalogue, telling our readers how to access it. Can we give out this password to all our readers, or is it restricted? How do we obtain this password?

A: A password will be provided and sent to the email of your choice. You may publicise this password as you see fit. However, while it is for unlimited access under the current subscriptions, in the future it will be priced according to the number of simultaneous users anticipated. While we will still not restrict usage in the first year, we would recommend a licence in keeping with the usage recorded (or a restricted use password would be introduced).
