THE
MHNA TAKES HARRASSMENT EXTREMELY SERIOUSLY
Harassment covers sexual and racial harassment, harassment because of a
disability or because of age, and harassment of lesbian and gay members
and staff. It includes bullying, intimidation, abuse and violent behaviour
of Amicus members and staff. It can take many forms, including an inappropriate
use of email and SMS text messaging.
MHNA will not tolerate harassment by members or staff
in any way, and is liable to disciplinary action within Amicus rules.
ACCEPTABLE USE OF EMAIL
AND SMS TEXT MESSAGING
Please bear in mind when using email and text messaging that the language
that you use, and the method of circulation, can have a considerable effect
on the recipient, whether intended or otherwise. Emails and text messages
are a public and legal document, the inappropriate use of which can lay
originators liable to legal action, as well as disciplinary action within
Amicus rules.
YOUR CONDUCT
MHNA expects members and staff to behave towards each other in an appropriately
acceptable, professional and respectful manner. The Association’s
goal is to create an environment in which harassment either does not happen,
or if it does, it is not ignored, treated lightly, or tolerated.
ACTION
AGAINST HARRASSMENT
If you want to complain about harassment, bullying, intimidation, abuse,
or violent behaviour, you can contact Linda
McCulloch, Amicus National Equalities Officer.
